Naughty Dog Confirms More Last Of Us Projects In Development

Naughty Dog has confirmed that multiple new projects set in The Last of Us universe are in development, although the studio says they remain in the very early stages.

The confirmation came from Naughty Dog president Neil Druckmann as part of the studio’s closing update for The Last of Us Day. Druckmann said the developer has “a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages” and that both will expand The Last of Us canon beyond the events of Part I and Part II.

More Last Of Us Stories Are Planned

Druckmann said Naughty Dog has previously discussed the possibility of telling additional stories in the series, including after the release of the Grounded II documentary. The studio has now confirmed that those plans have progressed into early-stage projects.

“Since Grounded II, we’ve talked about the possibility of telling more stories in the world of The Last of Us,” Druckmann said. “We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can’t say much about them at this point.”

The developer has not revealed what these projects are, whether they will be games or other forms of media, or when they could be released. Druckmann did confirm that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond the first two mainline games.

“The world of The Last of Us means a great deal to us, and we wouldn’t return to it unless we had something meaningful to say,” Druckmann added. “We believe these stories are worth telling.”

Naughty Dog also used the occasion to thank fans who supported its charity stream for AbleGamers. According to Druckmann, the event had raised $11,000 and counting.
