Nintendo Switch 2 game-key cards for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer are currently unplayable due to the download reportedly being missing.
In a post on Reddit, user AL_KATRAZZ reported encountering error code 2016-0070 when attempting to play the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer using its physical game-key card. The error appears to be associated with the game not yet being uploaded to Nintendo eShop servers.
Despite releasing on October 16, 2026, the Nintendo eShop listing for the Switch 2 version shows a download size of just 82MB. In comparison, the Nintendo Switch version is listed at approximately 2GB while the Xbox version requires a 6.35GB download, suggesting that the correct game files haven’t been made available for the Switch 2 version. In such a scenario, the digital edition would also be affected by the issue.
The Reddit user purchased the game-key card for Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at Target on launch day. According to them, contacting Nintendo’s customer support initially resulted in several troubleshooting steps that failed to resolve the issue. After calling again and pointing out the discrepancy in download sizes, the player was advised to contact Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer publisher GameMill Entertainment. However, attempts to reach the company proved unsuccessful, with emails bouncing back and comments disabled on its official YouTube channel.
For now, Nintendo Switch 2 buyers of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer are left with no choice to wait for Nintendo or GameMill Entertainment to address the issue and make the download available.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is based on the 1964 television special of the same name. Players take on four minigames, each featuring distinct motion-control mechanics and a time limit. A minigame ends when its allotted time runs out, and up to two players can participate simultaneously. For the first three challenges, players can choose from five characters, while the final minigame allows them to select an elf. After finishing each challenge, players can pick a different character for the next one.
