Nintendo Switch 2022 Lineup Includes Bayonetta 3 and Mario + Rabbids 2 in Japan

The lineup of Nintendo Switch releases for the remainder of 2022 include Bayonetta 3 and Mario + Rabbids 2 in Japan. The US and Europe release of Mario + Rabbids 2 may get pushed to 2023, however. Meanwhile, a new release date for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has yet to be announced. There’s no word regarding Metroid Prime 4, other than the fact that the project exists and has not been canceled.

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is slated for a June 10th release, while Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will hit store shelves on June 24th. Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s release date has also been confirmed for July 29th this year. Other prominent games, such as Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are tentatively scheduled for a Late 2022 release.

The release of the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also got pushed to sometime in 2023. Development on the project began in 2017, following the completion of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and a teaser trailer was presented at the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct. Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma announced in a Nintendo Direct in February 2021 that the makers will reveal further details about the game later that year. Nintendo presented a trailer detailing gameplay, plot, and a 2022 release date during the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct. Despite the lack of an official game title in the teaser, various fan theories regarding the game’s premise began to appear. Nintendo is keeping the subtitle a secret because it hints at certain elements of the game that the creators are not looking to reveal as yet.

For the uninitiated, Bayonetta 3 is a Nintendo Switch action and hack and slash game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo. It is the third game in the Bayonetta series and the sequel to Bayonetta 2. Reggie Fils-Aimé, Nintendo of America’s now-former president and COO, teased the game during The Game Awards 2017 with a teaser. This happened at the same time as the Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 ports. The teaser featured an action sequence between Bayonetta and an undisclosed foe, with the colour purple prominently featured throughout.

Yoshiaki Koizumi revealed that the game’s development was proceeding well during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on February 13, 2019, despite the fact that they had yet to reveal anything yet. On September 23rd, 2021, the game was finally revealed. The action packed gameplay was shown off, and a release window of 2022 was confirmed.
