Team Ninja has outlined details for an upcoming free update to Nioh 3, scheduled to arrive on April 27, 2026. The update focuses on expanding gameplay options while introducing additional challenges and rewards for players.

In a message addressing the community, producer Kohei Shibata acknowledged player support and confirmed that further updates and downloadable content are already in development. “We would first like to express our gratitude to the many players around the world who have taken the time to play Nioh 3 since its release. We are currently hard at work developing future updates and DLC for the game,” Shibata stated.

The upcoming update will introduce several new features, with a strong emphasis on high difficulty content. Among the additions are multiple Battle Scrolls, presented as side missions designed to test players at a higher level. The update will also include the Stone of Penance, a system that increases accessory values and rarities in exchange for increased difficulty.

Players can also expect new skills, which will be obtainable by completing selected high difficulty Battle Scroll missions. Balance adjustments are planned as well, specifically targeting certain Graces to refine overall gameplay performance.

Shibata noted that the team is in the final stages of preparing the update for release and asked for continued patience ahead of its launch. “We are currently preparing for the release of this update, and we appreciate your patience until it becomes available,” he said, adding that more detailed breakdowns will be shared through official social media channels.

He also confirmed that support for the game will continue beyond this update, with additional content planned. “We will continue to provide ongoing updates for Nioh 3, including DLC releases planned for later this year,” Shibata said, concluding with, “In the meantime, we hope you will continue to enjoy playing Nioh 3.”

Nioh 3 launched on February 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Windows. Developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo, the action role-playing game is set during Japan’s Sengoku period and follows Tokugawa Takechiyo as he contends with both political rivals and supernatural forces. The title builds on the series’ combat systems with an open field structure and a dual style mechanic that allows players to switch between samurai and ninja styles.
