Nioh 3 Update 1.06.00 Improves Stone of Penance and Crucible Rewards

Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo have released Nioh 3 update 1.06.00 for PlayStation 5 and Steam, bringing a large set of balance adjustments focused on the Stone of Penance system alongside multiple gameplay improvements and bug fixes. The patch also increases divine equipment rewards, improves Crucible loot distribution, and adjusts enemy behavior in several activities.

A major focus of the update is making Stone of Penance runs more rewarding through higher drop rates, increased gold gains, and better access to high-level equipment. Several combat-related bugs and multiplayer synchronization issues have also been resolved.

Adjustments Regarding the Stone of Penance

  • Increased elemental damage dealt to enemies while using the Stone of Penance
  • Adjusted how Ki affects human enemies while using the Stone of Penance
  • Areas outside the Crucible now share the same increased drop rate bonuses as the Crucible while using the Stone of Penance
  • Increased the drop rate for equipment level 161 and above while using the Stone of Penance
  • Increased gold acquisition while using the Stone of Penance

Other Adjustments

  • Reduced guard frequency used by certain human enemies
  • Reduced the health of some enemies in the Battle Scroll Within Time Everlasting
  • Crucible weapons can now also drop in Lesser Crucibles
  • Increased the selling price of divine equipment

Shogun’s Journey Rewards

  • Added repeat completion rewards for enemy bases, Lesser Crucibles, Myth missions, and Master missions while recalling memories or using status enhancements
  • Added divine rarity item rewards for replayed activities in Shogun’s Journey
  • Improved reward balancing to increase chances of obtaining equipment with higher +values when replaying enemy bases or Lesser Crucibles with status enhancements

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue causing guard inputs to fail after taking lethal damage while guarding with spears or odachi weapons
  • Fixed an issue preventing Grapple attacks against Honda Tadakatsu when his Ki reached 0
  • Fixed certain enemies in Battle Scrolls Within Time Everlasting and Gathering of the Greats failing to drop equipment
  • Fixed an online multiplayer issue where guest Stone of Penance data failed to update correctly in play records
  • Added additional minor bug fixes

PlayStation 5 Fixes

  • Fixed control conflicts between Selection Settings and Help controls on certain menus, including the Blacksmith menu

Steam Fixes

  • Fixed a crash issue caused by left-clicking and moving the cursor in the Equipment Appearance menu

Nioh 3 launched on February 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo, the action RPG expands the series with larger open-field exploration while following Tokugawa Takechiyo through supernatural battles against yokai across different eras of Japanese history.
