Following the reveal of Yujiro Hanma as Tekken 8 Season 3’s fourth DLC fighter, the developers have now clarified that the upcoming “SUBSEA LOCKDOWN” stage is not based on the Baki franchise.
In a statement shared by the Tekken producer at Yasuda Esports, they addressed confusion surrounding the stage after Yujiro’s reveal trailer led some fans to believe the arena was directly inspired by the anime and manga series.
“We are absolutely thrilled by the incredible response to Yujiro Hanma joining TEKKEN 8. Thank you all so much for your support,” the statement reads. “To prevent any confusion, we would like to clarify the nature of the new stage, ‘SUBSEA LOCKDOWN’.”
According to the developers, the arena was “planned and developed as a completely new, original TEKKEN battle stage” and “is not based on any designs or settings from the Baki series.”
The team also confirmed that the stage music was newly produced for the arena itself. “The BGM was also originally composed and produced specifically for this stage,” the statement continued. “Yujiro Hanma’s teaser trailer features the world premiere of the background track created exclusively for ‘SUBSEA LOCKDOWN’. Put on your headphones, turn up the volume, and experience the pure intensity for yourselves!”
Bandai Namco recently confirmed Yujiro Hanma as the fourth character included in the Tekken 8 Season 3 Pass. The pass also contains returning fighters Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr., alongside the new SUBSEA LOCKDOWN stage, 120 hours of DLC early access, and the Aurora Outfit Season 3 exclusive costume.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika, Tekken 8 launched in January 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The latest entry in the long-running fighting franchise introduced the Heat system, which places greater emphasis on aggressive offensive gameplay during matches.
