Sales of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s fighting game, Tekken 8, have surpassed the likes of Pragmata and Battlefield 6 on Steam after the DLC character announcement of Baki series’ Yujiro Hanma.
Tekken 8 has skyrocketed past successful games like Pragmata and Battlefield 6 on the Steam global sales charts after the announcement of Baki series’ Yujiro Hanma coming to the title as a DLC character, as seen in the image below. The fighting game currently sits right below Arc Raiders.
The announcement took place live during Combo Breaker 2026, confirming another major crossover addition to Tekken 8. Known throughout the Baki franchise as “The Strongest Creature on Earth,” Yujiro Hanma is infamous for overwhelming opponents through sheer physical strength and martial arts mastery. The character is especially recognized for his “Demon Back” transformation and his brutal, emotionless approach to combat.
Tekken 8 Season 3 has largely focused on gameplay adjustments and roster expansion following feedback from the competitive community. Bandai Namco previously positioned the new season as a recalibration of the game’s combat systems after earlier updates introduced mechanics that some players felt pushed the gameplay too far away from traditional Tekken fundamentals. The current Season 3 roadmap also includes the return of several legacy fighters, including Kunimitsu, Bob, and Roger Jr. Yujiro now joins the lineup as one of the series’ biggest crossover additions so far.
Bandai Namco Entertainment has not yet confirmed an exact release date for the character update. Yujiro is planned to join the game as the 4th DLC character during Winter. The developer did clarify in a statement that the upcoming “SUBSEA LOCKDOWN” stage is not based on the Baki franchise. According to the development team, the arena was “planned and developed as a completely new, original Tekken battle stage” and “is not based on any designs or settings from the Baki series.” It was also confirmed that the music heard in the teaser trailer is an original composition for the stage.
