No Man’s Sky Update 7.0 Adds Deep Space Exploration and Orbital Bases

No Man’s Sky Update 7.0 significantly expands space exploration with new deep-space points of interest, space hulks, orbital construction, Space Station Directorship, Galactic Alliances, and expanded spacewalking. Players can also look forward to the Our Journey Continues Expedition, new Twitch Drops, and additional Corvette functionality.

The update also delivers extensive rendering and performance improvements, including support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and Intel XeSS 3, improved terrain, water, clouds, and planetary visuals, and numerous CPU and memory optimizations. A wide range of gameplay, Corvette, multiplayer, VR, base-building, and quality-of-life issues have also been fixed.

Deep Space Mapping

  • Added a local star system map accessible from the Quick Menu.
    • The map displays local celestial bodies, the space station, and other deep-space points of interest.
  • Added new deep-space points of interest, including:
    • Rocky and icy asteroid belts.
    • Inhabited and infested deep-space outposts.
    • Procedurally generated deep-space hulks.
    • Debris fields.
    • Asteroid platforms.
  • Added points of interest at system stars.

  • Added the Signals tutorial mission to introduce the star system map and deep-space navigation.
  • Outposts are managed by alien quartermasters who trade maps and salvaged materials.
  • Outposts contain salvage and delivery terminals offering deep-space contracts.
  • Added new player titles for accomplishments at deep-space points of interest.
  • Some deep-space anomalies can now grant rare station decoration blueprints.
  • The Dream Aerial has been converted into a reusable product that can be crafted and consumed multiple times to locate individual living frigates.

Shipbreaking

  • Space hulks contain potentially valuable items but can melt down and explode when their structural integrity is disrupted.
  • Added the Tractor Beam Corvette utility part.
    • The Tractor Beam gathers physical cargo into the Corvette hold.
    • It can be purchased at the Corvette Workshop in space stations.
  • Improved the Gravitino Coil’s controls, animations, and crosshairs.
  • The Gravitino Coil can now be equipped in Space Stations.

Space Station Directorship

  • Players can become directors of Space Stations by proving themselves to local authorities.
  • Directors can shape external decorations, interior layouts, and ancillary compartments.
  • Added large exterior decoration modules for Space Stations.
  • Directors can remove and adjust existing station decorations.
  • Existing base parts can be used to reshape and redecorate station interiors.
  • Directors can expand their Space Station by adding rooms to the main hangar.

Galactic Alliances

  • Station directors can establish their own alliances.
  • Players can join alliances by visiting their owned Space Stations.
  • Alliance systems can be accessed through the teleporter.
  • Players can join up to three alliances.
  • Alliances are graded according to member activity.
  • The largest and most active alliances appear on a leaderboard at the Space Station core.

Orbital Constructions

  • Players can construct orbital bases anywhere in space.
  • Natural asteroid platforms can be used as starting points for orbital bases.
  • Players can also claim empty volumes of space for construction.
  • Added new corridor base parts for orbital construction.
  • Added numerous station decoration parts that can be unlocked from the Construction Research Terminal aboard the Space Anomaly.

Spacewalking

  • Added an eject button for non-Corvette starships through the Quick Menu.
  • Expanded spacewalking with true six degrees of freedom movement, including roll.
  • Improved transitions when landing on and taking off from objects with gravity in space.
  • Space explosions now knock players back.
  • Spacewalking drains exosuit cold protection technologies unless the player is close to other hazards, such as hot balls of glowing gas.

Our Journey Continues Expedition

  • Expedition Twenty-Three, Our Journey Continues, will begin shortly and run for approximately six weeks.
  • The Expedition celebrates 10 years of No Man’s Sky.
  • The Expedition journeys through the game’s evolution since launch.
  • Developer commentary read by Sean Murray is available for each milestone.
  • Unlocked commentary remains permanently accessible in the Collected Knowledge section of the Catalogue.
  • Nostalgia-themed rewards include framed commemorative art, decals, titles, and several additional rewards.
  • Rewards include a golden edition of the original Rasamama 36 starship, an astronaut bobblehead, the Starbound v0.27 multi-tool, and a vintage Interceptor ship and diplodocus pet.

Twitch Drops

  • A new package of Twitch Drops will begin shortly.
