Overwatch 2 is confirmed with a lengthy cinematic trailer shared by Blizzard during BlizzCon 2019. It will launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The cinematic trailer for Overwatch 2 showed the same quality as seen in the shorts for every new character reveal. The expected platforms for the game are PS4, Xbox One, and PC. (Update: There is no official confirmation of the platforms so we just reported on the platforms for the original Overwatch. The data from the first game will carry over to the sequel so at least PS4, Xbox One, and PC are unofficially confirmed. We apologize for the mistake of mentioning Nintendo Switch as it wasn’t confirmed at this point) (Update 2: Nintendo Switch is confirmed through official fact sheet)
In addition to a cinematic trailer, Blizzard Entertainment has also shared a gameplay trailer giving fans a look at what’s new in the sequel.
Here is an official description from Blizzard Entertainment for Overwatch 2.
Overwatch 2 is the globe-spanning sequel to Blizzard Entertainment’s acclaimed team-based game, building upon the original’s battle-honed foundation and carrying forward everything players have earned into a new era of epic competition and team play. Square off against rivals in PvP modes, and explore the Overwatch universe firsthand in all new, fully cooperative missions that challenge the world’s heroes to team up, power up, and take on an overwhelming outbreak of threats around the globe.
There is no release date set for this sequel. It is one of the many announcements that Blizzard has made during the ongoing BlizzCon 2019. One of these is for Diablo IV which will launch for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Overwatch 2 was also part of a leak that included Diablo IV before BlizzCon 2019 and it was finally confirmed today.
