Phil Spencer Confirms More Xbox Games Will Come To Other Platforms

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, has announced that more Xbox games will soon be available on various new platforms. In a recent statement during IGN Live, Spencer emphasized the positive impact this expansion will have on Xbox franchises, saying, “You are going to see more of our games on more platforms, and we just see that as a benefit to the franchises.”

This is not the first time Microsoft has suggested that their games will come to other platforms, including competitors like the PlayStation 5. They are also committed to supporting Nintendo hardware with Call of Duty, an agreement that they made before they acquired Activision.

This statement follows rumors and speculation about Xbox’s strategy to broaden its reach. Reports suggest several Xbox first-party games are slated for release on the PlayStation 5, potentially by Holiday 2024. Insider and content creator Nate the Hate, known as NateDrake on the gaming enthusiast forum Reset Era, shared this information. Nate indicated that he is working to verify the specific games and their release windows but hinted at a significant Xbox presence on the PS5 in the near future.

The first set of Xbox first-party titles that launched on the PS5 included Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Pentiment. He also suggested that major franchises like Forza and Halo could be ported to the PS5, a speculation supported by Windows Central editor and The Xbox Two podcast co-host Jez Corden.

Nate further addressed inquiries about Bethesda’s highly anticipated action role-playing game, Starfield. He clarified that his previous comments about the absence of a PS5 port for Starfield were based on the information available at the time. However, he speculated that a Starfield Complete Edition could be released on the PS5 by late 2025. This would allow the upcoming Shattered Space expansion an exclusive period of 6 to 12 months on Xbox consoles before the full package becomes available on the PS5.
