Playground Games has reiterated that Fable is still scheduled to launch later this year following a new recruitment post (via IdleSloth84) shared on LinkedIn.
In the post, the studio reflected on the recent launch of Forza Horizon 6 before confirming that development work on Fable is continuing ahead of its planned release window.
“After the incredible launch of Forza Horizon 6 this week, the excitement across the studio is sky-high!” Playground Games wrote. “But we’re not done yet. With Fable coming later this year, we’re continuing to recruit across multiple disciplines to bring more exceptional talent into the team.”
The studio encouraged interested applicants to visit its careers page, stating that it is looking for talent across several departments.
The latest statement serves as another public reaffirmation that the long-awaited Fable reboot remains on track for launch in 2026. Xbox previously confirmed that the game is targeting a Fall 2026 release window.
Developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, Fable is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It marks the first time a mainline Fable title will launch simultaneously on a PlayStation platform.
Set in the fantasy world of Albion, the reboot follows a customizable protagonist who gains heroic powers before setting out to uncover the source of a mysterious curse that transformed their village into stone. The game features third-person melee, ranged, and magic-based combat alongside a morality and reputation system that affects how characters within the world respond to the player.
