During the latest episode of Giant Bomb’s Bombcast, Jeff Grubb, who is known for his sources within the game industry, shared that he’s heard about a PlayStation Showcase event or a State of Play presentation happening next month in May, 2024, and that it will likely feature the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Prior information regarding the Silent Hill 2 remake suggests that it may be close to receiving a release date announcement. The game has recently been rated Mature by the ESRB for its depiction of violence, blood and gore, sexual themes, and use of inappropriate language for those below the age of 17. The rating board’s summary highlights the realistic portrayal of violence, with enemies reacting vividly to gunfire, exhibiting signs of pain, and leaving behind blood-splatter effects. Additionally, the game’s environments often feature graphic scenes such as large bloodstains and exposed intestines/organs, adding to the overall horror experience.

Furthermore, Steam Achievements for the game were recently updated with support for additional languages, including French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Ukrainian, and Portuguese. It had originally received support for Steam Achievements as well as Brazilian and Ukrainian subtitles back in October, 2023. Also, it was not long ago that Bloober Team President Piotr Babieno had stated that development on the Silent Hill 2 remake was almost complete, and that a potential release date announcement depended entirely on the publisher, Konami.

Taking all these factors into account, it’s entirely possible that Sony and Konami are planning to announce a release date and pre-order details for the Silent Hill 2 remake during an upcoming PlayStation event. The game is set for release on PlayStation 5 and Windows. At launch, it will be a timed console exclusive for PS5, before being eligible for release on other platforms one year later.
