Sony Interactive Entertainment is testing a new social-focused feature for the PS5 that lets users view the weekly active player count for the top 10 best-selling games.
PlayStation has begun rolling out a new Welcome Hub widget to select users in the PS5 beta program. In his recent video, content creator Mystic offered an in-depth look at the new feature. The new widget can be arranged based on “Trending Now” or “Top 10” games on the platform. Both are designed to highlight the most-played PlayStation games in the user’s country, but they approach the data differently.
The “Top 10” section highlights the biggest revenue-making PS5 games of the week based on their respective weekly active player count. The feature displays exact player numbers, allowing users to see how many people are actively playing these titles.

Below are the ranked player counts of the top best-selling games for this week on PlayStation in the US.
- Fortnite – 14.6 million players
- GTA V – 5.13 million players
- Minecraft – 4.97 million players
- Call of Duty – 4.95 million players
- Apex Legends – 1.72 million players
- Marvel Rivals – 1.58 million players
- BF6 – 1.51 million player
- Arc Raiders – 972,000 players
The “Top 10” rankings are unlikely to change much on a week-to-week basis due to the continued dominance of live-service multiplayer games. However, regional differences could still impact rankings, with titles like EA Sports FC likely ranking high in countries like the UK.
As for the “Trending Now” option, it highlights games experiencing major spikes in popularity instead of focusing purely on total player counts. These surges are reportedly calculated through percentage increases in gameplay activity, meaning games receiving large content updates or seasonal events could suddenly appear on the list.Major single-player releases may also benefit during their launch periods.
