The Pokémon Company confirmed that the broadcast will include a special Pokémon Pokopia announcement connected to PokémonXP and the 2026 World Championships. It has not revealed what the announcement will cover.

Pokémon Pokopia Announcement Could Reveal More About The Game

Pokémon Pokopia is a social simulation and sandbox game for Nintendo Switch 2, developed by Game Freak and Omega Force. The game takes place in an abandoned version of the Kanto region, with players controlling a Ditto that takes human form while working with Pokémon to rebuild settlements and restore their habitats.

The game also has an Expansion Pass planned across three releases. The first part, Bubbly Basin, launched in August 2026 and introduced an underwater town, new furniture and outfits alongside a free update adding the Dive move.

The Pokémon Company has not provided any further details about the August 21 announcement, so it remains unclear whether it will focus on upcoming content, the Expansion Pass or another aspect of Pokémon Pokopia.

The 2026 Pokémon World Championships themselves will take place in San Francisco from August 28 to 30, bringing the 2026 competitive season to its conclusion.
