You can restart the game in Sword and Shield at any point but keep one thing in mind that if you will restart the game, all the Pokemon you captured and entered in your Pokedex will be gone and you will not be able to get them back again in the new game, except catching them and doing all the things again.

How To Start A New Game In Pokémon Sword And Shield

By following the steps below you will reset the game and will be able to start a new game

  • Go to the home screen of your Nintendo Switch and then select System Settings
  • Find the Data Management option from the system settings on your screen
  • In Data Management, select  the “Delete Save” option
  • Select Sword and Shield in order to delete your current profile
  • Now you can start a new game and enjoy it from scratch

We don’t normally advise doing it unless you have messed up and want to start from fresh experience. You can also try to make a backup to Cloud or locally before deleting your save game.
