Mob Entertainment has announced that Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 – Broken Things will launch for consoles on May 27, 2026, bringing the latest entry in the horror franchise to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles, and Nintendo Switch following its PC release earlier this year.
The studio confirmed that the new chapter first debuted on PC in February, where it quickly became one of the series’ biggest launches to date. With the console release, players will once again return to the abandoned Playtime Co. factory to continue uncovering the mysteries surrounding the company’s dark past.
According to Mob Entertainment, Chapter 5 pushes the series further both narratively and atmospherically. Senior Director of Creative George Krstic said the development team experimented heavily with the chapter’s tone and storytelling while building the new environments and threats players will encounter throughout the factory.
In Broken Things, players descend deeper into The Prototype’s territory while attempting to survive increasingly dangerous encounters. The story centers around confronting the puppetmaster responsible for many of the horrors tied to Playtime Co.’s history. Along the way, players will solve puzzles, avoid deadly enemies, and navigate environmental hazards while separated from their allies.
One of the major returning threats is Huggy Wuggy, who will actively pursue players throughout parts of the experience. Mob Entertainment also teased several new characters hidden within the factory, though the studio hinted that not every encounter will be hostile.
Gameplay additions in Chapter 5 include new GrabPack tools and abilities designed to expand puzzle-solving and traversal mechanics. The developers also promise additional lore revelations tied to the deeper secrets of Playtime Co. and The Prototype.
The Poppy Playtime franchise has continued to grow significantly since the first chapter launched in 2021. According to Mob Entertainment, the series has now surpassed 50 million players worldwide. Beyond the games themselves, the horror property has expanded through merchandise, crossover collaborations, and a planned feature film adaptation.
Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 – Broken Things launches May 27, 2026, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox platforms.
