PS Plus Essential October 2023 Games Lineup Includes The Callisto Protocol

The PS Plus Essential lineup for the month of October, 2023, has been partially leaked, and among the prominent additions to its catalog is Krafton and Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol.

The official announcement for PS Plus games usually occurs on the last Wednesday of every month, but it appears to have been partially leaked a day earlier. The leak comes from well-known leaker billbil-kun, who has leaked the PS Plus Essential lineup several times before.

PS Plus Essential October 2023 Lineup

The games announced for PS Plus Essential subscribers in the month of October, 2023 are as follows:

• The Callisto Protocol (PS4/PS5)
• Farming Simulator 22 (PS4/PS5)
• Weird West (PS4/PS5)

The latest additions to PS Plus Essential will be available to subscribers starting from Tuesday, October 3, 2023 up until Monday, November 6, 2023. PlayStation Plus members have until Monday, October 5 to add the September, 2023 lineup i.e. Saint’s Row (PS4/PS5), Black Desert – Traveler Edition (PS4), and Generation Zero (PS4).

For the uninitiated, The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror video game released in 2022. It was developed by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton. The game is directed by Glen Schofield, the creator of the Dead Space series, and is seen as a spiritual successor to that series.

The game’s storyline follows Jacob Lee (played by Josh Duhamel), a starship captain who survives a crash landing on the Jovian moon Callisto. He is subsequently captured and imprisoned against his will in a high-security prison. Jacob must fight for his survival as a mysterious illness spreads through the prison, while also uncovering the dark secrets of his captors. Players take on the role of Jacob Lee, as they explore various levels, gather resources, and collect data logs while battling infected prisoners.

The game is played from a third-person perspective. Jacob’s health is monitored through an implant on the back of his neck called a “C.O.R.E. Device,” which can be restored using injectable packs found in the game. Jacob can utilize weapons to combat enemies and employs a melee system to evade enemy attacks and find opportunities to strike and eliminate them. Both combat styles can be mixed to add variety when dealing with different types of enemies. Additionally, players can collect and listen to audio logs during gameplay.
