PS4 Firmware Update 8.03 Allows To Disable Game Chat Audio
Sony has released a new PS4 firmware update today that adds the ability to disable the game chat audio which was previously possible on the PS5.
Game Chat Audio can be easily muted on the PS5 through the DualSense controller but it is not the case with the PlayStation 4. Sony has added this option for those who would rather have the audio muted.

PS4 Firmware Update 8.03 Changelog
PS4 VSH 8.03 is an optional update and the following change will be made:
- Disable Game Chat Audio has been added under Sound/Devices in the quick menu. If you turn on this setting, game chat audio will be disabled. Your voice won’t be heard, and you won’t hear other players’ voices. This setting doesn’t apply to party chat audio.
This allows the user to toggle the game chat audio off and applies to both the incoming as well as outgoing audio. However, it won’t apply to party chat audio so you don’t have to worry about facing it when playing together with friends.
