PS4 System Update 10.01 Silently Dropped Today, Changelog Here
Sony has released a new PS4 system software update today bumping the firmware to version 10.01. You can read all about it here.
The download size of this PS4 firmware update is 495 MB, which is not that much different from the last major update. The incremental increase is also negligible, from 10.0 to 10.01, which means that this is likely a minor stability update instead of one that brings something new into the mix.
PS4 System Update 10.01 Changelog
- This system software update improves system performance.
This is a minor update next to PS4 update 10.0 which had a rather decent changelog. It was released in parallel to the PS5 update that brought plenty of new features including the ability to build game lists, and more.
Just in case, here are the changes that were mentioned in the 10.0 update.
- While using the Internet Browser, you can now select between two types of zoom functions.
“Zoom” lets you increase the size of the elements on the page while adjusting their layout so everything fits without having to scroll left and right.
“Magnify” increases the size of everything on the page without layout adjustments.
The maximum zoom/magnification rate is now 500%.
- We’ve updated the following for Remote Play.
It’s now easier to use the keyboard on your PC or Mac when using PS Remote Play.
We’ve removed the text entry box so you can use your keyboard to type directly onto your PS5 console or PS4 console.
In addition to typing, you can also now use the keyboard to control games that support it.
Should You Update To The Latest PS4 Firmware?
So you might be wondering if it is safe to update to the latest firmware. Since this is not a mandatory update, you are not required to download it to access PlayStation Network services. This means you can just ignore it for now.
