Ubisoft has revealed Rainbow Six Tactics, a new single-player, turn-based tactical game set in the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six universe. Announced during Opening Night Live 2026, the game will let players take control of Six and command teams of up to 4 operators during high-stakes global missions.
Developed by Ubisoft Paris, Rainbow Six Tactics takes place alongside the ongoing Rainbow Six Siege timeline. A new global threat forces Team Rainbow to operate on a larger strategic scale, with players responsible for making decisions both at headquarters and in the field.
The campaign is built around a progression loop that moves between Rainbow’s headquarters and tactical missions. Players will review intelligence, select assignments, choose the appropriate operators and prepare their teams before deploying into turn-based encounters.
Back at HQ, players can train their operators, upgrade the base and review new intelligence to strengthen Rainbow’s capabilities ahead of the next operation. The decisions made during preparation will play an important role in how each mission unfolds.
Rainbow Six Tactics features a roster of 15 operators drawn from Rainbow Six Siege. Players can select 4 operators for each squad, with every character bringing unique abilities, specialised gadgets and individual skill trees. This allows teams to be built around different tactical approaches.
The campaign will include dozens of missions across locations around the world. Objectives include hostage rescues, bomb disposal and target elimination, with each operation requiring players to prepare their squad while adapting to changing circumstances during the mission.
Destructible environments are another major part of the gameplay. Players can destroy walls to create new lines of sight, eliminate enemy cover and open alternative routes into areas.
The Breach feature adds a more dramatic element to combat. It allows operators to launch a synchronised assault, temporarily breaking away from the turn-based structure so the entire team can act simultaneously while storming a new area. Operator abilities and environmental destruction can be combined during these assaults to create decisive attacks.
Rainbow Six Tactics is designed to retain the planning, precision and teamwork associated with Rainbow Six while introducing a turn-based tactical structure. The game will focus on the relationship between strategic preparation at HQ and tactical decision-making during individual operations.
The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Ubisoft Connect, Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will also launch through Ubisoft+, GeForce Now and Blacknut.
