Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble Now Available for Pre-Registration on iOS and Android

by Greg Martin

Pre-registration is now open worldwide for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, the upcoming free-to-play mobile hero shooter from developer Oh Bibi, created in collaboration with PlayStation Studios and Insomniac Games. Players can now sign up through the App Store and Google Play ahead of the game’s global launch.

To mark the start of pre-registration, the developers have launched a community rewards campaign. Players who register will contribute towards global milestones that unlock rewards for everyone, including in-game currencies such as Qredits, Reebos and Raritanium. The final reward is an exclusive Clank Suit skin for the hero Widget, which will become available to all players if the community reaches the highest milestone before launch.

The announcement follows a regional testing period across Canada, the Nordic countries, France and parts of Asia. According to Oh Bibi, feedback gathered during those soft launches has helped shape the experience ahead of its worldwide release.

Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble puts players into Captain Qwark’s combat simulation, where they compete to become the next generation of Galactic Rangers. The game features real-time multiplayer hero shooter gameplay that combines player-versus-player battles with dynamic PvE elements during matches.

At launch, players will be able to choose from 12 heroes, each offering their own abilities, weapons and playstyles. Alongside familiar faces from the Ratchet & Clank universe, the roster also introduces brand-new characters, including new Lombaxes, robots and aliens created specifically for the game. Oh Bibi said it worked closely with Insomniac Games on the design and backstories of these original characters.

The game will launch with 6 different modes, offering a mix of competitive and cooperative gameplay. Players can take part in traditional team-based PvP matches, cooperative PvE encounters, a battle royale-inspired mode and a football-inspired game type that incorporates the series’ signature over-the-top weaponry.

Oh Bibi said preserving the identity of Ratchet & Clank has remained a key goal throughout development. The studio says the mobile adaptation retains the franchise’s humour, imaginative weapons and distinctive style while adapting the gameplay for shorter multiplayer sessions on mobile devices. The team also drew inspiration from the music of the earlier Ratchet & Clank games when creating the soundtrack.

Players interested in joining the game at launch can pre-register now through the App Store and Google Play via the official Ranger Rumble website. The developers say they will continue refining the game and have more announcements planned before its global release.
