Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart May Be Next PlayStation Exclusive To Get A PC Port
Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart may be the next PlayStation exclusive to get ported over to PC.
Based on a recent job listing for a UX/UI Engineer posted by developer Nixxes, it appears that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be the next PlayStation exclusive to make its way to PC. The listing mentions experience in using Coherent middleware as a plus. The aforementioned middleware tool is developed by Coherent Labs to implement game UI, and one of the recent PlayStation exclusive titles to use it is none other than Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Putting two and two together, it’s not far-fetched to assume that a PC port of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is in development at Nixxes. The studio has previously handled PC ports of two other Insomniac Games’ developed titles, namely Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. While this is by no means a confirmation that a PC port is in development, given how SIE is porting its first-party titles over to PC a year or two after their release on PlayStation consoles, it bound to happen sooner or later.
Previously, it was reported that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart may also be added to the PS Plus Extra game catalog.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a 2021 third-person shooter platform game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5. The game serves as a sequel to Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus from 2013, making it the series’ ninth main and sixteenth overall installment. On June 11, 2021, Rift Apart was released after being announced in June 2020.
The game shares many gameplay similarities with Ratchet & Clank (2016) and prior entries in the series. Strafing, gunplay, bolt collection, automatic health and weapon upgrades, manual Raritanium weapon upgrades, and gadgets are among the features that have been carried over from previous Ratchet & Clank games.
