Red Dead Redemption Updated Logo On Official Website Points Towards Potential Remaster

Rockstar Games appear to have released an updated logo for Red Dead Redemption on their official website suggesting a remaster is coming soon.

The update was discovered by a user and it went live just an hour ago. The new logo is “Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar Presents Ver)”. The codename for this logo is “RDR1RSP” where the R has been suggested to point towards a remaster.

Take a look at the updated logo below, as shared on Twitter.

There have been a lot of rumors recently that appear to suggest that Rockstar Games could be bringing the remastered version of Red Dead Redemption to modern platforms. Firstly, a rating for the game was spotted in Korea which was for a new version. This led to further rumors that the game might be remastered. It was followed by other insiders hinting at a remaster being in development. Take-Two Interactive had also talked about releasing remasters of their classic games in the current fiscal year.

If this is a remaster, there is a good chance it goes above and beyond a simple resolution upgrade. The original Red Dead Redemption was released only on the PS3 and Xbox 360, and while it received worldwide acclaim and was a commercial success, it was outpaced in every category by its successor.

Rockstar Games might use the renewed interest in the series to rerelease the first game and those who have played the sequel will understand that narratively it is a prequel, so it makes perfect sense to release the first game which theoretically continues the story heading into the second game.

It is currently possible to run the game through emulation on PC but the experience is far from perfect. A native port of the game makes perfect sense and would capitalize on the popularity of RDR 2 to achieve better sales.
