Resident Evil Insider Claims There Is No Current Push for a Resident Evil 5 Remake

Fresh comments from well-known Resident Evil insider AestheticGamer, better known as Dusk Golem, suggest that a Resident Evil 5 remake is not currently a priority within Capcom.

The remarks came in response to claims that Capcom plans to remake all mainline Resident Evil entries, including Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, as part of a broader effort to connect the series more closely with Resident Evil Requiem and future installments.

According to Dusk Golem, “This isn’t true from what I’ve heard. While I think a Resident Evil 5 Remake will probably happen in the future due to fan demand, at present I’ve heard there’s not a strong desire within the company to remake RE5 presently, there’s other projects the team wants to do more.”

He continued by cautioning against assumptions that every mainline entry will automatically receive a remake, writing, “It’s easy to say at this point, ‘Oh they’ll remake everything,’ but to my knowledge that’s not what’s happening. There was desire from the teams to remake RE:2 & RE:4, fan imitative/feedback & interest from some key people lead to Veronica, Zero, & RE:1 happening.”

In a follow-up post, Dusk Golem claimed Capcom’s internal interest is currently focused elsewhere. “They’ve brought up other things to remake, but from what I’ve heard there’s more internal interest to remake Revelations 1 than RE5 or RE6, which at present no one really wants to take on.”

He added that while he believes Resident Evil 5 will eventually be revisited, “Again, I suspect RE5 will happen someday due to fan demand, but there is no drive to do it.”

Capcom has not announced a Resident Evil 5 remake, and the company’s future remake plans remain unconfirmed. However, Dusk Golem’s comments suggest that, despite persistent fan demand, other Resident Evil projects may currently be receiving greater attention internally.
