Sony Pictures has revealed the official logo for its upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot, offering a first look at the film’s branding ahead of its theatrical debut on September 18, 2026. The project is being directed by Zach Cregger, known for his work on Barbarian and Weapons.
The new film is positioned as a fresh take on the long-running franchise, with a focus on capturing the tone and atmosphere of the original games rather than directly adapting existing storylines. Cregger co-wrote the script alongside Shay Hatten.
The story centers on a medical courier named Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, who finds himself trapped in a snow-covered Raccoon City during a viral outbreak. Early impressions from CinemaCon and test screenings suggest a tightly paced horror thriller, described as having “all gas, no brakes” energy, with some comparisons drawn to a zombie-driven version of Mad Max Fury Road.
Sony has not shared additional details alongside the logo reveal, but the film remains on track for its planned September release.
