Blizzard Debuts New Korn Song Reward the Scars for Diablo IV Expansion

by Greg Martin

Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled a new music collaboration tied to Diablo IV, debuting an original track titled Reward the Scars created by Korn. The release coincides with the upcoming Lord of Hatred expansion and marks the band’s first new song in more than 4 years.

The track leans into themes familiar to both Diablo and Korn, focusing on the emotional aftermath of conflict, including pain, survival, and personal transformation. Blizzard describes the song as a natural fit for the game’s tone, aligning with the darker narrative direction of the expansion.

Reward the Scars was first performed live during Korn’s recent appearance at Sick New World, giving fans an early listen ahead of its official release. The newly launched music video builds on that debut, combining the band’s performance with imagery inspired by Diablo’s bleak and hostile world.

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis noted that his long standing familiarity with the Diablo series made the collaboration feel organic. He pointed to the shared themes between the game and the band’s music, particularly the exploration of inner darkness and confronting difficult emotions, as a key reason the project came together smoothly.

From Blizzard’s side, the partnership is framed as a creative alignment between two properties that occupy similar thematic ground. Kevin Bjelajac, the company’s Vice President of Brand and Creative Marketing, highlighted how the song reflects the expansion’s focus on choice, consequence, and the tension between resisting or embracing darker impulses.

The music video for Reward the Scars is now available, serving as a cross media promotion for Diablo IV’s Lord of Hatred expansion while also introducing Korn’s latest work to fans.
