It appears that Sega and Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei 5 is headed to Xbox Game Pass alongside the standard release on all major platforms.
According to Twitter user Sn0w1n, who is previously known for sharing leaks and rumors from the game industry, Shin Megami Tensei 5 is headed to Xbox Game Pass in addition to the standard release on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. According to him, the official announcement will be made at the Shin Megami Tensei Series 30th anniversary event, which is scheduled to happen on May 5 and 6, 2023.
The arrival of more Shin Megami Tensei titles on Xbox Game Pass was previously also hinted during an episode of The XboxEra Podcast by host Shpeshal Nick, who mentioned that more Shin Megami Tensei titles could be headed to Xbox consoles in the future. According to him, Microsoft is looking to collaborate with Atlus to bring more Shin Megami Tensei games to Xbox consoles, just as it did previously in the case of Persona titles.
The Shin Megami Tensei titles specifically named by Nick were Shin Megami Tensei 3, 4, and 5. According to him, having these games ported to Xbox is a “pretty big” deal for the software giant, much like Persona was as well. Currently, Shin Megami Tensei 3 is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC, while Shin Megami Tensei 4 is available on the Nintendo 3DS, and Shin Megami Tensei 5 is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
The latest entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei 5, is a 2021 role-playing video game developed and published by Atlus. Produced by Shin Megami Tensei IV director Kazuyuki Yamai, it was designed as a cross between Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and Shin Megami Tensei IV, featuring returning gameplay mechanics such as raising and fusing demons. The game had sold over a million copies as of April 2022.
