SEGA has announced that Shinobi: Art of Vengeance will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 24, 2026, bringing the acclaimed 2D action platformer to Nintendo’s latest console in both digital and physical formats.

Developed by Lizardcube in collaboration with SEGA, the game marks the return of legendary ninja Joe Musashi, the longtime protagonist of the Shinobi series. The story begins with Musashi returning home from a previous mission only to discover that his village has been destroyed and his clan transformed into stone. Determined to seek revenge, he embarks on a journey that takes him through a variety of hand-drawn environments filled with enemies, hidden paths, and powerful bosses.

According to SEGA, players can expect fast-paced action platforming that emphasizes mobility, precision, and exploration. Multiple routes and unlockable areas are scattered throughout the adventure, encouraging players to revisit stages and uncover additional secrets.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will be priced from $29.99 and will be available to pre-order through Nintendo. In addition to the standard edition, SEGA is also offering digital and physical Deluxe Editions.

The Deluxe Editions include the SEGA Villains Stage DLC, a special expansion that pits Joe Musashi against three iconic characters from across SEGA’s catalogue. Players will face Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog, Goro Majima from Like a Dragon and Yakuza, and Death Adder from Golden Axe.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is already available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch 2 version joins the lineup on September 24, 2026.
