Silent Hill 2 Remake Has Been Rated Mature By ESRB For Sexual Themes & Violence

Konami’s and Bloober Team’s upcoming remake of its survival horror classic, Silent Hill 2, has been rated “Mature” by the ESRB for its depiction of sexual themes and violence.

Gamestop store outlets have been putting up promo posters (via) for the upcoming remake, suggesting that the game may be nearing its release. Additionally, the promo has revealed that the Silent Hill 2 remake has been rated Mature by the ESRB for its depiction of violence, blood and gore, sexual themes, and use of inappropriate language for those below the age of 17.

Both the ESRB rating and the Gamestop promo posters are indicative of a release date announcement for the Silent Hill 2 remake, which may happen sometime very soon. Furthermore, Steam Achievements for the game were recently updated with support for additional languages, including French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Ukrainian, and Portuguese. It had originally received support for Steam Achievements as well as Brazilian and Ukrainian subtitles back in October, 2023.

Recently, Sanborns, a Mexican retailer, had seemingly revealed the release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake, stating it would be available on May 30, 2024. However, it’s worth considering that the listed date may just be a placeholder for the game’s actual release date, which has yet to be confirmed by the publisher. Earlier, a discord user had shared his Instagram conversation with Silent Hill 2 remake voice actor Luke Roberts, who plays the role of James Sutherland, in which he had asked about the game’s release date. In response Roberts had told the fan that he believed the survival horror title will arrive sometime in early 2024. Also, it was not long ago that Bloober Team President Piotr Babieno had stated that the game’s development was almost complete, though he did also mention that a potential release date announcement depended entirely on the publisher, Konami.

The Silent Hill 2 remake is set to be released sometime this year in 2024 for PlayStation 5 and Windows. At launch, the game is a timed console exclusive for PS5, before being eligible for release on other platforms one year later.
