SEGA has released a new free content update for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, bringing characters and music from the Puyo Puyo series into the arcade racer.
The update adds Arle as a playable racer alongside her themed vehicle, the Twinkle Bayoen. Players will also receive new emotes, sound effects, and several music tracks from Puyo Puyo that can be used through the game’s Jukebox feature.
A total of five songs have been added as part of the crossover update, including multiple versions of “A Long-awaited Spacetime Journey!” and its Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 arrangement.
SEGA is also launching a limited-time in-game festival event beginning Thursday, May 28 at 8:00 PM ET. The event will run through Sunday, May 31 at 7:59 PM ET, giving players the opportunity to earn festival points that can be exchanged for decals, gadgets, and other cosmetic rewards.
The publisher confirmed that all players who own either the Standard Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, whether physical or digital, will automatically receive the Puyo Puyo Content Drop after updating the game to the latest version.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch platforms. The game is priced starting at $69.99 on most current-generation platforms, while the Nintendo Switch version starts at $59.99. A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is also available digitally and physically for $69.99.
