Nintendo has announced that Donkey Kong 64 will join the Nintendo 64 library on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack beginning June 3. The classic platforming adventure will be available on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems for subscribers to the premium service tier.

Originally released for the Nintendo 64, Donkey Kong 64 follows Donkey Kong and the rest of the Kong family as they battle King K. Rool and the Kremlings once again. Players can switch between five playable characters throughout the adventure, including Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong, each with their own unique abilities used to solve puzzles and explore different areas.

Nintendo says players will be able to climb, swim, and explore large environments packed with collectibles, platforming challenges, and minigames. The game also includes competitive multiplayer battle arenas supporting up to four players through split-screen play, though additional accessories may be required for multiplayer sessions.

The company also used the announcement to highlight the wider benefits included with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. Alongside access to Nintendo 64 titles, members receive libraries of Game Boy Advance and SEGA Genesis games, online multiplayer support for select retro titles, and access to several Nintendo DLC packs at no extra cost.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners additionally gain access to a growing GameCube classics library, alongside features such as Rewind and CRT filters for compatible Nintendo 64 games. Expansion Pack subscribers on Switch 2 can also access upgrade packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, provided they own the base games separately.
