Sony May Have More PS5 Exclusives Planned For 2025
Sony Interactive Entertainment may have more PS5 exclusives in store for the year 2025, based on the latest rumor.
Known insider shinobi602 took to gaming enthusiast forum Reset Era to respond to a fellow member who had asked him for a nod regarding their predicted lineup of PS5 exclusives in 2025, which includes Bungie’s Marathon, Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, and Sucker Punch Productions’ recently announced Ghost of Yotei. The insider responded with a GIF animation that suggested that Sony Interactive Entertainment has more than just the aforementioned three exclusive titles in store for next year.
It’s worth noting, however, that the insider added a “Maybe” within a spoiler tag in their post. It’s likely that there are indeed more PlayStation first-party titles planned for release in 2025, but some or all of them may get pushed to 2026, depending on how far they are in development and what kind of unforeseen hurdles they may encounter.
One of the PS5 exclusives mentioned above, Bungie’s Marathon, may also face a delay amid possible development issues. During a recent episode of Friends Per Second on the Skill Up YouTube channel, guest Jason Schreier, who is known for his game industry insights, was asked how the development of Marathon was going. In response, Schreier said that things weren’t great based on what he had heard. Schreier mentioned that there’s a reason Marathon was originally planned for release this year in 2024. He said that the game slipped a whole year to sometime in 2025, and people he’s talked to are a little pessimistic about it even hitting its current planned deadline. He mentioned that the sentiment that has been shared with him around it is not great. This is based on what he had been told a few months ago. He also said that he isn’t sure if Marathon is the right bet, given that it’s an extraction shooter, with PVP as well as PVE attached to it.
