NVIDIA RTX 5090 Will Allegedly Come With 32GB VRAM & Consume 600 Watts Power, RTX 5080 Specs Also Leaked
The specs for the upcoming NVIDIA RTX 5090 and the NVIDIA RTX 5080 graphics cards have allegedly been leaked ahead of an official announcement.
Known hardware insider kopite7kimi has shared specs for the NVIDIA RTX 5090 and the NVIDIA RTX 5080 graphics cards. Based on the leaked information, the RTX 5090 will come with a substantial amount of memory, but will also have hefty power requirements.
NVIDIA RTX 5090 & 5080 Specs Detailed
Detailed specs for the NVIDIA RTX 5090 and the NVIDIA RTX 5080 can be seen below.
NVIDIA RTX 5090 (PG144/145-SKU30)
- GB202-300-A1: Just like 4090 is using 202 series. Probably not the full GB202 die though.
- 21760FP32: 170 SM configuration on the GB202. Versus 128 SM from 4090 AD102 a very massive uplift over the 4090
- 512-bit GDDR7 32G: a very chunky uplift over 4090’s 384-bit GDDR6X also an extra 8GB over 4090’s 24GB, the bandwidth here should be a massive uplift overall the 4090
- 600W: a 33% increase over 4090’s 450W as well, but keep in mind this is only expected TDP not actually the GPU itself will consumer anywhere near that power on actual usage.
Going by the above information, the NVIDIA RTX 5090 is set to be more powerful than previously expected, as the specs indicate a major leap over its predecessor, the RTX 4090.
NVIDIA RTX 5080 (PG144/147-SKU45)
- GB203-400-A1: Looks like it’s using the same 203 A1 series again just like the 4080 but this time it is full die version
- 10752 FP32 = 84 SM configuration. Versus 76 SM from 4080 AD103 indicating that the 5080 is using full die version of GB203 instead of cut down like the 4080 did.
- 256-bit GDDR7 16G: not as chunky as the 5090 has but it still should offer an improvement on memory bandwidth going from G6X (23Gbps) to G7 (28Gbps)
- 400W: A 25% increase over 4080
In summary, the NVIDIA RTX 5080 is a less capable variant of the NVIDIA RTX 5090 chip. While it doesn’t compare as favorably to the RTX 5090 as the RTX 3080 did to the RTX 3090, it still fares better than the RTX 4080 did compared to the RTX 4090, as it is using the full GB203 die instead of a cut down version. It also comes with a sizeable increase memory bandwidth over its predecessor, the RTX 4080.
