Live TV on PS5 has launched in the United States, giving PS5 owners access to more than 100 free ad-supported live channels alongside a growing library of on-demand content. The service is available from the Media section of the console and includes programming from Amazon MGM Studios, Crunchyroll, FOX, NBCUniversal, NFL Channel, UFC and other providers.
The service is operated by Sony Pictures Television and covers a wide range of entertainment, including movies, television shows, anime, sports, news and weather. Players can access it directly from their PS5 without paying for the content, although the experience is supported by advertising.
To start watching, PS5 owners need to open the Media tab from the console’s home screen and select the Live TV on PS5 icon. They can then choose the option to sign in with their PlayStation account and begin viewing the available programming.
The launch line up includes free movie channels covering genres such as action, horror and science fiction. Channels include MovieSphere by Lionsgate, 50 Cent Action, FilmRise Free Movies, Sony One Horror Hits and Cinevault.
There is also a selection of popular television programming, including Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, Forensic Files, Unsolved Mysteries, Deal or No Deal USA and Fear Factor. Ice Road Truckers from HISTORY is also included.
Anime fans can watch series including Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter and Death Note. The service also includes Crunchyroll programming, including dedicated Black Clover and Box Sets channels.
