Star Fox update 1.2.0 is now available, adding three new Battle Mode stages: Katina, Sector X, and Venom. The update also introduces new battle items and expands split screen to support up to four players on a single Nintendo Switch 2 console.
The update makes several Campaign, Challenge, Battle, and Training adjustments while fixing crashes, freezes, online issues, score calculation problems, and other bugs. Support for third party USB cameras has also been improved.
Patch Notes
Battle Mode
- Added three new stages: Katina, Sector X, and Venom.
- Added new items that appear during battles.
- Expanded split screen to support up to four players on a single Nintendo Switch 2 console.
- Each player requires a controller when using split screen.
- Joy Con 2 and Joy Con controllers can be used in solo horizontal grip during split screen.
- Added support for participating in random matches as a team through split screen.
- Online Battle lobbies will no longer disband when the host leaves.
- Added GameChat camera feed support during full screen matches when using a camera.
- GameChat camera feeds can appear on the game screen when shooting down an enemy aircraft and in other instances.
- A separately sold USB camera is required for the GameChat camera functionality.
- Camera feeds and microphone audio are transmitted only to GameChat members.
- Character avatars and AR accessories can also be used.
Campaign Mode and Challenge Mode
- Added a confirmation dialogue when selecting ABANDON CAMPAIGN after receiving a game over in Campaign Mode.
- Adjusted visuals to make damage dealt to certain bosses easier to see.
- Modified the Sector X challenge Find the hidden power-up in the secret corridor so it can be completed after obtaining the wing repair item.
- Adjusted the colour of the Bolse Core boss weak point in Bolse.
Training
- Adjusted the positions of the left and right goalposts in the Use tilt to fly through the goalposts challenge to make them easier to pass through.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where repeatedly selecting RESTART in Corneria could occasionally cause the game to crash.
- Fixed an issue in Aquas where defeating Bacoon while the player’s ship was shot down could cause the game to freeze after restarting and defeating Bacoon again.
- Fixed an issue in Area 6 where defeating Gorgon while the player’s ship was shot down could cause the game to freeze after restarting and defeating Gorgon again.
- Fixed a rare issue in Titania where Goras’ main body would not reappear after its arm submerged into the ground, causing the game to freeze.
- Fixed an issue where playing Venom in Challenge Mode could cause the game to freeze when resuming Campaign Mode and clearing Venom.
- Fixed a rare issue where a sound would fail to play or play twice after selecting RESTART during gameplay.
- Fixed an issue in the Zoness challenge Destroy every Radar Buoy without being spotted where destroying a Radar Buoy by colliding with it while piloting the Arwing did not trigger failure.
Battle Mode Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue that could occasionally cause the game to crash when starting an Online Battle match.
- Fixed an issue where the host and remaining participants could stop progressing normally after the host lost their connection.
- Fixed an issue where approximately 1,000 points were not correctly calculated after a player’s score exceeded approximately 1,200.
- Fixed an issue where Arwing wing durability could decrease after playing Challenge Mode on Expert difficulty and then entering Battle Mode.
- Fixed an issue where playing Battle Mode after interrupting a Venom 2 session could sometimes prevent players from performing somersaults or U turns.
Other Changes
- Addressed an issue where third party USB cameras could fail to function correctly in Star Fox despite working properly on Nintendo Switch 2.
- Not all USB cameras are guaranteed to work.
- Players are advised to use the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera if a third party USB camera does not function.
- Fixed several additional issues to improve the gameplay experience.
Star Fox was released globally on June 25, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. The game was developed by Velan Studios and published by Nintendo, with update 1.2.0 released on September 29, 2026.
