Xbox Game Studios and Undead Labs’ State of Decay 3 will have a greater emphasis on storytelling, and the Doom Eternal sequel will likely arrive on PlayStation platforms, as per sources.
The Xbox Two podcast co-host Jez Corden took to Twitter/X to share that he’s heard there will be a bigger emphasis on storytelling in State of Decay 3. His sources have also told him positive things about the game’s systems, survival elements, and visuals. According to the LinkedIn profile of senior cinematic artist at Undead Labs, Alan Diekfuss, the action adventure survival game will also feature in-game cinematics as opposed to pre-rendered ones.
Furthermore, Corden responded to a query regarding the possible release of Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield on PS5. Last he heard, there’s currently no PlayStation port in development, though he added that this doesn’t mean it wont ever happen.
Additionally, on the possibility of the Doom Eternal sequel releasing on PlayStation consoles, Corden said that the chances of it happening are high. He has offered similar “informed speculation” in the past regarding the future of Xbox, according to which major first-party exclusives, including the likes of Forza and Halo, will arrive on PlayStation.
Previously, it was revealed that Undead Labs and The Coalition have been working together to incorporate Gears of War technology related to Unreal Engine 5 into State of Decay 3. Speaking during Major Nelson’s podcast on Gamescom and PAX, vice president Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty discussed that Undead Labs has been collaborating with the Unreal Engine 5 experts at The Coalition to incorporate some of the technology that went into the development of Gears of War titles into State of Decay 3. He added that he spent all day at Undead Labs in Seattle last week to get the latest update on the progress of State of Decay 3’s development.
