SEGA and RGG Studio have revealed several new cast members for Stranger Than Heaven, including legendary rapper and actor Tupac Shakur, while also confirming that the upcoming action-adventure game will launch worldwide on January 15, 2027.

The announcement was made during Summer Game Fest 2026, where a new trailer introduced the latest additions to the game’s cast. Alongside Tupac, actors Takashi Ukaji, Yasukaze Motomiya, Takaya Kuroda, and comedian Kohei Tsuji of Nippon no Shacho were confirmed to be joining the project.

Following the trailer’s debut, RGG Studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama took the stage to officially announce the release date. He was later joined by Snoop Dogg and his son Cordell Broadus, both of whom portray characters in the game. During the presentation, the pair discussed the addition of Tupac to the cast and his role as a character named Amaru.

According to SEGA, Tupac’s appearance in Stranger Than Heaven has been developed in collaboration with Amaru Entertainment, the estate responsible for preserving and managing his legacy. The publisher emphasized that the portrayal has been created with the estate’s permission and ongoing supervision.

RGG Studio also stated that no artificial intelligence was used in recreating Tupac’s likeness. Instead, the development team relied on archival photographs and footage while working closely with Amaru Entertainment throughout the process. Additional information regarding Amaru’s role in the story will be revealed at a later date.

The Summer Game Fest presentation also highlighted the game’s musical talent. Snoop Dogg is contributing to Stranger Than Heaven’s official theme song alongside Satoshi Fujihara, Japanese singer Ado, and Tori Kelly, all of whom also portray characters within the game’s world.

While RGG Studio has yet to fully detail the game’s story, Stranger Than Heaven remains one of the studio’s most anticipated upcoming projects. The title combines an original setting with a diverse cast of musicians, actors, and entertainers from around the world.

SEGA also confirmed several editions of the game ahead of launch. Players can pre-order digital Standard and Deluxe Editions, while physical Standard and Collector’s Editions will also be available. The limited Collector’s Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S includes a 12-inch vinyl record featuring the main theme song and additional music from the game, a SteelBook case, Deluxe Upgrade content, pre-order bonus DLC, and the base game packaged in a premium collector’s box with exclusive artwork.

Stranger Than Heaven launches on January 15, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass. More details on the game’s story, characters, and Tupac’s role as Amaru are expected to be shared in the months leading up to release.
