Nintendo has announced a wave of additions for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members, bringing Virtual Boy games to the Nintendo Classics library on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The update also includes two previously unreleased titles and confirms the arrival of Super Mario Sunshine later this month.
The Virtual Boy library launches with a selection of classic games, while D-Hopper and Zero Racers will become available on 4 August. Both titles were originally completed for the Virtual Boy in 1996 but were cancelled before release following the commercial failure of the hardware.
D-Hopper, originally known as Dragon Hopper, is a top-down action-adventure game in which players guide a young dragon prince on a rescue mission. Zero Racers reimagines the F-Zero formula as a 3D tunnel racing game. Their arrival on Nintendo Switch marks the first time either game has been officially released to the public.
Super Mario Sunshine will join the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library on Nintendo Switch 2 on 13 August for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.
Originally released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2002, Super Mario Sunshine follows Mario on a trip to Isle Delfino, where he must clear mysterious pollution using FLUDD, a water-powered backpack. Along the way, players use the device to clean the island, cross large gaps, and collect Shine Sprites while exploring the tropical setting. The game has remained one of the GameCube’s best-known 3D platformers thanks to its distinctive movement mechanics and water-based gameplay.
