Bandai Namco has released a major SUPER ROBOT WARS Y Anniversary Update, celebrating the long-running tactical RPG series’ 35th anniversary with free content and a new paid expansion.
Available now, the free update introduces 2 commemorative missions. One celebrates the Super Robot Wars series surpassing 20 million copies sold, while the other marks its 35th anniversary. Both missions become available after players meet specific conditions during Chapter 2.
The update also raises the maximum pilot level from its previous limit to 200, giving players more room to develop their favourite characters. In addition, a new BOOST game mode has been added, doubling Experience, Credits and MXP earned while reducing the cost of aircraft upgrades and pilot training to speed up progression.
Launching alongside the update is the paid Anniversary Expansion Pack, which adds 33 new Area Missions and an additional bonus mission titled Anniversary Expansion Purchase Mission.
The DLC also expands the roster with 5 new playable units, 1 new Assist Crew member and 12 new weapons that can be equipped by all units, offering additional options for players building their squads.
SUPER ROBOT WARS Y combines tactical, grid-based combat with characters and mechs from a range of mecha anime series. Players command a team of pilots through strategic battles while upgrading units and abilities as they progress through an original story centred on preventing an impending catastrophe.
SUPER ROBOT WARS Y is available now on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
