The Medium Devs Were Blown Away by How The Game Looks On Xbox Series S

by Ali Haider

The Medium is only available on Xbox Series S and X in addition to PC. The devs have praised the Xbox Series S saying how it blew them away.

In an interview with VG247, the developers talked about the hardware requirements of The Medium and why they choose to make it exclusive to the new generation of consoles.

The lack of The Medium on Xbox One means that the game is limited to the users who have an Xbox Series S or X. It is also available on PC where the user has more choice but the limitations of the console version were a surprise for most fans.

According to Bloober Team, while it would be technically possible to run the game on last-generation consoles, it would have comprised on their vision that they had for The Medium. They did praise Xbox Series S which packs less raw power compared to Series X but also manages to run The Medium.

“Yeah, I even played the whole game on Series S like one week ago and I was blown away because I thought I played on Series X,” said Jacek Zięba, one of the producers on The Medium. “Somebody told me “man, this is Series S.” What! Awesome, wonderful. Of course, you know, there will not be 4K because S does not support 4K, and of course it will maybe look different a little to Series X because X is twice as powerful, but the overall experience and fun from the game, it is the same. I own the Series S and I can’t wait to play in my home.”

Lead designer Wojciech Piejko added: “Yeah, so the graphics are still nice because we’ve got a really cool graphic art style and I love the art style of the game. It’s in lower resolution, but it’s still the same great experience.”

The Medium will run at 4K and 30 FPS on the Xbox Series X and likely 1080p and 30 FPS on Series S. It is also launching on the Xbox Game Pass on January 28 for both PC and Xbox Series consoles.
