The Quarry: How To Fix Crashing And Performance Issues On PC

Supermassive Games’ latest drama horror game, The Quarry, is out and in the hands of gamers across the world, and some players have been reporting crashing and other performance issues in the PC version, including stuttering, an unstable frame rate, and audio sync problems.

We’ve put together a number of fixes that you can try in order to tackle these issues in The Quarry. However, given the vast amount of PC configurations, these workarounds may not improve things for everyone.

How To Fix Crashing And Performance Issues In The Quarry

  • Disable Background Apps: The first thing you can try is to make sure all third-party software that runs in the background is disabled. Not only do they take up some CPU overhead, but chances are that they’re having compatibility issues with the game.
  • Disable Overlays: It’s likely for The Quarry to crash if you’ve enabled in-game overlays, such as Steam or GeForce Experience overlay. Once again, this can be due to incompatibility errors.
  • Bypass 2K Games Launcher: Head into the game properties of The Quarry in your Steam library, and add the following text into the launch options field: “C:\Steam\steamapps\common\The Quarry\TheQuarry.exe” %command% (Note: replace “C” with the drive where you have your Steam apps installed)
  • Tweak .ini File: Open The Quarry’s .ini file in Notepad and lower the screen percentage (%) to 80% in order to lower the native resolution to 80% and boost performance on your PC. The TAAU command line can optionally be added here as well, in case the drop in resolution is noticeable to you.

Following the above steps should hopefully rid your experience of in-game crashing, low performance (FPS), and stuttering in The Quarry. Further optimizations can be made by tweaking the in-game graphical settings. Stay tuned for further information on how to get the best settings for high performance in The Quarry on PC.
