The rumored Uncharted: The Lost Legacy director Shaun Escayg led game at Naughty Dog is allegedly not related to The Last of Us.
Known insider Nate the Hate took to Twitter/X to respond to a question regarding possible new information on the rumored Uncharted: The Lost Legacy director Shaun Escayg led project at Naughty Dog. In his reply, he mentioned hearing minor details, but nothing that he’s prepared to share at present. Though, he did state that the game isn’t related to The Last of Us series.
In April, 2026, an individual by the name of AlirAlex, who previously shared details related to a State of Play announcement, claimed that Naughty Dog is working on a new entry in the Uncharted series alongside its already announced project, Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet. Earlier in March 2025, insider DanielRPK stated that the unannounced project was not The Last of Us III and was being directed by Shaun Escayg, known for his work on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. According to him, the game had been in development for 3 years at the time.
Further speculation was fueled by Escayg’s social media activity in April, 2026, where he shared a post captioned “Research…” alongside a picture from Fort George in Trinidad and Tobago (see image below. The location has drawn attention due to its historical ties to maritime conflicts and lost treasure, elements that are in line with the themes explored in the Uncharted series.
Trinidad and Tobago has long been associated with stories of sunken ships, pirate legends, and lost cargo from the colonial era, making it a plausible setting for a new installment. Meanwhile, narrative threads from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, including the introduction of Nathan Drake’s daughter Cassie, have been seen as a possible direction for the series moving forward.
