Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch on March 4, 2027, with KOEI TECMO and Team NINJA also releasing a free Alpha Demo that gives players an early look at the upcoming action RPG. The demo is available now on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, Xbox on PC and Steam, and can be played until September 30, 2026.
The sequel takes place in China in 208 AD, following the events of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. The protagonist’s village is destroyed by Cao Cao’s forces as they move to invade Jing Province, leaving the region engulfed in war while demons roam across the land.
Seeking revenge, the protagonist initially fights alongside Liu Bei against Cao Cao’s forces before travelling to Jiangdong and reuniting with Pang Tong. Together, they begin working on a plan to stop Cao Cao as he prepares to target the Red Cliffs.
Wo Long 2 retains the fast-paced combat of its predecessor while introducing new actions and systems. Insight Skills allow players to evade attacks, make use of the surrounding terrain for counterattacks and shift the momentum of encounters when facing multiple enemies. Combat also allows players to take to the skies to deliver attacks from above.
The sequel expands the scale of its environments through dynamic open fields based on major battles from the Three Kingdoms period, including the Battle of Changban and the Battle of the Red Cliffs. Players can explore locations ranging from mountain fortresses to strongholds hidden within valleys while managing their morale and developing strategies for each battlefield.
Enemy officers can also be recruited, weakening opposing forces and providing another tactical option during battles.
The Alpha Demo provides access to the Changban open field, where players can fight alongside Liu Bei’s army against Cao Cao’s pursuing forces. It also includes an in-progress character creation system and online multiplayer for up to 3 players, alongside encounters with demons inspired by legendary Chinese classics.
Players who complete the demo will receive the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet as a bonus for the full game. A survey will also be available to collect feedback from participants.
Pre-orders are now available for the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions. The Deluxe Edition includes the base game, Season Pass, Creator God Armor Set, Digital Artbook, Digital Mini Soundtrack and Shitieshou Hat.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is scheduled to release worldwide on March 4, 2027. The game will feature Japanese and English voice options, with text support for English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
