Xbox has confirmed it will reveal the next entry in the Metro series later this week, with a dedicated digital broadcast titled Xbox First Look: Metro 2039 set to air on Thursday, 16 April.
The showcase will offer a first look at the upcoming title from 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver, marking the fourth mainline instalment in the long-running post-apocalyptic first-person shooter franchise. The series, inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels, has previously spanned Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, and Metro Exodus, each exploring life in and beyond Moscow’s underground tunnels following nuclear devastation.
The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 6 pm UK time and will be presented as a YouTube Premiere via the official Xbox channel. Xbox has positioned the event as a global reveal, giving players their first proper glimpse at what lies ahead for the franchise.
Viewers will have access to a wide range of subtitle options, with support confirmed for numerous languages, including French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese variants, among others. Accessibility features will also be available, including an English-language version with audio descriptions and a separate stream featuring American Sign Language.
For those unable to watch the presentation live, Xbox has stated that a full recap will be published shortly after the broadcast concludes, covering all announcements from the show.
The Metro series has maintained a strong presence on Xbox platforms over the years, and this upcoming reveal continues that relationship, setting the stage for what appears to be the next major chapter in the franchise.
