Microsoft’s current-gen consoles, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, have reportedly received a substantial price hike in Japan.

Several retailers in Japan, including Yodobashi, Sofmap, Bic Camera, have increased the price of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles (via Renka_schedule and Genki_JPN on Twitter/X), revealing post-hike prices that have seen an increase by 30,000 Yen. While the move is a part of Microsoft’s scheduled plans to increase console prices worldwide, the company had yet to officially share new prices for the region.

In June, Microsoft announced that it would increase Xbox console prices worldwide from August 1, 2026, citing rising component costs and ongoing challenges affecting the consumer electronics industry. Under the new pricing structure, 512 GB Xbox consoles would increase by 100 US Dollars, while 1 TB models will see a 150 US Dollar price increase. Microsoft also confirmed plans to discontinue the 2 TB console model, which would no longer be sold.

The company said the decision follows a previous price increase introduced in the United States last October, when Xbox console prices rose by between 20 and 70 US Dollars. According to Microsoft, it had hoped to avoid another adjustment but said the cost of console storage and memory has risen by more than 2.5 times, with prices expected to increase further by the end of 2027.
