Xbox Store Is Testing A New Feature That Will Help With Game Upgrades

The Xbox Store is currently testing out a brand new feature that will help users with game upgrades, as per the latest information.

Twitter/X user FunkyClam has reported that the Xbox Store is now testing a new feature that will allow users to get game upgrades. What this essentially means is that those who already purchased the base or standard edition of a title will be able to upgrade to its special or ultimate editions by paying some additional cost.

Having an upgrade path be available by default is a welcome feature, as it was previously not possible for players to buy a game’s standard edition and upgrade later on, as purchasing the base edition would lock them out of the other editions.

Additionally, Xbox is bringing a relatively basic feature that should’ve probably been available since the launch of the Xbox Series X|S consoles. Xbox users will now be able to keep multiple wireless networks registered on their console after the upcoming firmware update. As such, switching to a different network will no longer require you to enter login details when reverting back to the original network.

Previously, during a recent episode of The XboxEra Podcast, co-host Shpeshal Nick had shared that, as per his sources, Microsoft is bringing an Xbox Achievements overhaul that is expected to be rolled out sometime this year in 2024. He didn’t mention any specifics regarding the overhaul, but it’s likely to include something similar to PlayStation Network’s Platinum trophy, which is generally obtained by unlocking all other trophies for a game. Other changes may include a revamped Achievements UI.

The Xbox Two co-host Jez Corden had also mentioned speaking with an Xbox executive at Gamescom regarding the introduction of Platinum Achievements to the ecosystem. The executive said that Microsoft is interested in revamping the achievements system, and that it’s essentially a matter of priorities and time for the company.
