Nintendo has released a new overview trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, highlighting the game’s visual upgrades, new gameplay features and additional content ahead of its launch.
The Switch 2 version runs at 4K resolution and 60fps in TV mode, while handheld play targets 1080p at 60fps. Cutscenes have also been enhanced with improved image quality and smoother performance.
Players will also gain access to new outfit designs for Pyra and Mythra, with the alternate costumes appearing throughout both gameplay and cinematics.
One of the biggest additions is Merc Assault, a new gameplay mode that allows players to control up to six Blades directly during combat. Players can switch between party members on the fly, introducing a new style of real-time battles not found in the original release.
The Switch 2 Edition also adds a new rare Blade named MOMO, who can transform between two forms, each with its own elemental affinity.
Nintendo also confirmed release details for the upgraded version. The digital edition launches on July 30, while the physical release follows on October 1. Existing owners of the original Nintendo Switch version will be able to purchase an upgrade pack to access the enhanced visuals, new gameplay mode and additional content without buying the game again.
The new trailer provides the most detailed look yet at the Switch 2 Edition, showcasing both its technical improvements and the new gameplay additions exclusive to the upgraded release.
