Halo Studios is investigating an issue preventing some players who purchased the Halo: Campaign Evolved Premium Edition or Premium Edition Upgrade from accessing the game’s early access period on Xbox consoles and the Xbox app for PC.
In a post on X, the official Halo Support account said, “We’re investigating reports that some players on XBOX consoles and the XBOX app for PC who purchased the #HaloCE Premium Edition or Premium Edition Upgrade are unable to access the game.”
The team added, “We will share updates as soon as more information is available. Thank you for your patience.”
A Halo Studios representative also addressed the issue on the game’s official Discord server, writing, “The team is actively investigating the issue with the Premium Edition upgrade not unlocking Halo: Campaign Evolved on Xbox.”
The same update confirmed that a separate Steam issue affecting the Digital Story and Art Collection was close to being resolved. “The Steam Art Book issue should be resolved shortly and will only require a Steam Client restart.”
Reports of the problem quickly spread across social media and the Halo subreddit, with many Game Pass subscribers saying they were unable to launch the game despite purchasing the $20 Premium Upgrade for early access. Instead, affected users reported receiving a “You are too early” message that prevented them from playing before the game’s standard release.
Steam players also reported a bug that launched the standalone Digital Story and Art Collection instead of the campaign. Other users expressed frustration over licensing validation problems, saying the game required online checks that failed during launch.
Some players criticised the delayed acknowledgement of the issue and said they had taken time off work or stayed up late specifically to play during the early access period. Others questioned the value of paid early access after encountering launch-day technical problems.
Halo: Campaign Evolved enters general release on July 28, 2026, with Premium Edition owners receiving early access beginning July 23. Halo Studios has not yet provided a timeline for when the Xbox licensing issue will be resolved.
