Physical copies of Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios’ upcoming first-person shooter, Halo: Campaign Evolved, are now playable.

Reddit user Quick-Ease5117 has reported that physical copies of Halo: Campaign Evolved are now able to run. Those who are in possession of the disc version for Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 can now begin playing. Physical copies of the game are also able to run on the PS5 Pro via the add-on disc drive.

It’s worth mentioning that players will be required to install a day one update before booting the game for the first time. Once the patch has been downloaded and the initial setup is complete, the entire campaign can be played offline from beginning to end without requiring an internet connection.

Those who pre-ordered a digital copy of Halo: Campaign Evolved can now pre-load the game with the day one update included.  Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions have a download size of around 70 GB.

Meanwhile, the review embargo for Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to be lifted on July 23, 2026, the same day as the game’s Early Access launch and 5 days ahead of its full release on July 28, 2026. It is a ground-up remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign built in Unreal Engine 5.

The remake follows Master Chief as he battles the Covenant across the mysterious Halo ringworld while introducing expanded gameplay mechanics, including vehicle hijacking, additional weapons and a new three-mission prequel storyline. Halo Studios has rebuilt every asset, including levels, characters, weapons, vehicles and cinematics. Despite the complete visual overhaul, the original gameplay simulation remains intact. It also introduces around nine additional weapons that were unavailable in the original release. Players can now wield the Energy Sword, Sentinel Beam and Fuel Rod Gun, while the Brute Spiker returns through the game’s new bonus missions.
