Elden Ring: How To Access Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expands the lore of the base game by introducing a new area called the Shadow Realm. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to access this new content.

To access this new DLC area, you must have defeated two significant bosses: Mohg, Lord of Blood, and Starscourge Radahn. These are some of the toughest boss fights in the game, so prepare for a challenge.

If you have already beaten Elden Ring once, you can carry over your progress and use your preferred build to navigate the new zone. Note that there is a new progression system specific to this area.

How To Access Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

Defeat Starscourge Radahn:

Location: Radahn is located in Caelid, specifically in Redmane Castle.
- Activation:
  - The Radahn Festival needs to be active to access the fight.
  - This can be triggered by completing parts of Ranni the Witch’s questline up to the point where Sorceress Sellen informs you that Radahn must be defeated to enter Nokron.
  - Alternatively, you can start the festival by talking to Witch Hunter Jerren and Blacksmith Iji after beginning Ranni’s questline.
  - Another way to activate the festival is by entering the Altus Plateau and resting at any Site of Grace in the area. After this, head to Redmane Castle to find the festival active.

Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood:

Location: Mohg is located in the Mohgwyn Palace.
- Access:
  - You can reach Mohgwyn Palace either through the Sending Gate in the Consecrated Snowfield.
  - Alternatively, follow White Mask Varré’s questline to receive the Pureblood Knight’s Medal, which allows you to teleport directly to the palace.
- Path: Once in Mohgwyn Palace, navigate through the area to find and defeat Mohg.

Enter the Shadow Realm:

After defeating Mohg, go to the place where you defeated him, specifically the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum.
Interact with the Cocoon: Approach the cocoon in the mausoleum and you will encounter Leda, who invites you to join her in tracing Miquela’s steps through the Shadow Realm.
Transport to Shadow Realm: Interact with the arm hanging out of the cocoon to be transported to the Shadow Realm.
